On tuesday, July 8th, I was a guest on the midday show of Radio 2 Limburg with host Bjorn Verhoeven.
It was a lovely chat and my very first time introducing the concept of ARTOUFLAGE on national radio. Exciting, of course, but most of all, it was a valuable opportunity to explain what my work is truly about: art that is personal, that tells a story, and that resonates with people.
What struck me right away was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the friendly newsreader to the cheerful secretary, everyone made me feel instantly at ease. There was fresh coffee, space for a relaxed chat, and an overall sense of calm that made it the perfect setting for my very first radio interview.
During the broadcast, I spoke about what makes ARTOUFLAGE different from other forms of art. While many artists create from their own vision, I start from the person or place the artwork is intended for. A memory, a character, an interior, or a meaningful moment. I translate it into a unique visual piece.
I also shared the example of Restaurant Novo New Dining. That project started from a story and identity. The final piece? A canvas inspired by vinyl records. Not a coincidence, but an intuitive visual translation of the chef. The example struck such a chord that it even became the headline of the Radio 2 article.
Bjorn asked a few thoughtful questions: how do I begin a piece? What does the process look like? What can people expect? This gave me the chance to explain my approach. Always starting with a conversation, and always tailored to the person in front of me. People who’ve experienced the ARTOUFLAGE-process so far have responded positively: the result feels familiar, personal, and deeply resonant.
